Adversity in training makes us all tougher! Interesting quote I heard. The problems
come on more long term when you're training more heavily and/or regularly
and the inflexibility leads to pain in the form of tendonitis, cramps or
sprains.

Try doing some active stretching before a couple runs and let me know how it
goes!

Re: Stretching for Running

My workout currently includes:
-warm up: walk to the gym (0.5 mi)
-run for 40 min at such a pace to keep heart rate at 155 BPM
-cool down: light jog for 10 min
-cool down stretch: yoga for 15 min, focusing on ankles, back, shoulders, thighs

As you can see, I do not stretch before the workout. Have you ever had problems with not stretching before the workout?

Re: 7 Social Networking Sites for Runners

Thanks for the suggestion Louiscacaret! It's a great reminder for me, an avergage Joe, to just remember it's a sport and its about having fun. I get caught up in training hard and getting very nervous, only to be reminded by one of the best in the world too chill and realize we are not solving world hunger....
I've really enjoyed checking your blog and it's great to have a world class athlete that has so much class to go with it. Good Luck on your racing career! Even though you are not a BIG fan of Snowbasin, It's always a pleasure to see you grind it out when your here!

Re: Conrad Stoltz Xterra Champion Interview

Howzit Bradley. Normally even 2nd would have been a disappointment, but the 2nd half of the season was really rough on me. I cut my foot badly in the shallow water before the swim start of XTERRA Richmond, but raced on it (and won), but the foot got infected and I had to get $45 000's worth surgery, 3 days in hospital and a slow road back to recovery. When I started training again toward USA Champs and Worlds, I started getting all kind of running injuries and very little time.

So in hindsight, just the fact that I could race the 2nd half of the season is good. Most athletes wouldnt have. Read about it here: http://www.conradstoltz.com...
http://www.conradstoltz.com...

Re: Conrad Stoltz Xterra Champion Interview

Great interview! Also do track training with them. Can hands down say the most amazing shoe I've ever run/raced in. Super light, ultra comfortable(I don't wear socks with them even when training). They also have the best ventilation of any shoe I've raced in - making them the best race kicks for hot, humid Asia conditions. They perform and look incredible - go and get yourself a pair you won't look back..
Ryan

Re: Support Athletes for a Cure

Yes, as soon as I have a race lined up with a good couple months time in advance I will definitely hold a huge fundraiser.
